A Unique Twist On Anxiety Therapy For All Ages

Anxiety is a normal part of life. It’s how our minds express fear and worry when we are stressed. However, there is such thing as unhealthy amounts of anxiety. Anxiety that is debilitating and preventing you from living a fulfilling life is excessive.

Over 18% of all American adults suffer from anxiety, yet only 36.9% of those suffering receive treatment, despite anxiety being highly treatable.

Anxiety can manifest in many different ways and at different levels, including panic attacks, obsessive thoughts or worrying, social anxiety, or incapacitating phobias. Luckily, anxiety is very treatable, and often therapy for anxiety is the most effective treatment option. Whereas medication is a much more short-term solution, anxiety therapy can help those who suffer from anxiety learn techniques for identifying what causes anxiety, why, and how to combat that anxiety.

How We Approach Anxiety Therapy Charlotte NC

Anxiety Therapy Charlotte NC - CBT and DBT Therapy

CBT and DBT Combo

We mainly use a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help our clients work through their anxiety. CBT has proven to be one of the most effective anxiety therapy Charlotte NC techniques used to treat panic disorders, phobias, social anxiety disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder, among many other conditions. CBT has two major steps that work in tandem, the first being cognitive therapy, which examines how negative thoughts contribute to anxiety. The second step is behavior therapy, which examines how you behave and react in situations that trigger anxiety.

Dialectical behavior therapy is a specific form of CBT we utilize. DBT is all about two things, acceptance and change. Through teaching and practicing mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation, you can accept your anxiety while also working to change it.

With these combined with our unique anxiety therapy Charlotte NC techniques, we can effectively help clients overcome their anxiety challenges. There is a lot of hard work that goes into conquering anxiety, but if you’re ready to start your journey towards a life with less anxiety and fear, we want to help you!

Break The Mold With Therapy With A Twist !

At Bright View Counseling, we also utilize a unique therapy method we call “Therapy With A Twist!” We break out of the traditional mold for talk therapy by incorporating activities, tools, and games with this method. Nature can be very therapeutic, so we try to use that to our advantage. We take walks and use the environment. These practices can help clients process thoughts and feelings. We also have our office dog Charlotte come in to help out, providing comfort, companionship, and grounding for clients who are comfortable with that.

We incorporate this method with all of our clients, although to a different extent, depending on what works best for each individual. This style is particularly well suited to working with children and teens who may struggle with anxiety or other mental health issues.

With all sessions being performed remotely at this time and many people wanting to continue with virtual therapy into the future, we have adapted our methodology to work with teletherapy as well. We have clients participate in sessions while sitting outdoors, go for virtual walks, and participate in games and activities virtually. We’ve even done virtual fishing!
